AI assistants, image links and the API

Until now, making a Chartjuice chart meant opening the editor. There are three more ways from today, on every plan, Free included.

Connect an AI assistant

Add Chartjuice to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code and ask for a chart in plain words. You paste one address, sign in and choose Allow. There is no key to copy and nothing to install.

The assistant can make, edit and delete your charts and show them to you as pictures. It can't see your billing details, change your teammates or delete your account. Each assistant you connect is listed on your account page, under Connected apps, where you can disconnect it. Connect an AI assistant has the steps for each one.

Image links

The Download menu in the editor has a new item, Copy image link. It copies a web address that shows your chart as a picture, for an email, a Notion page or a website. When you edit the chart, the picture changes with it, within about 5 minutes.

A picture counts as one image render the first time it is drawn in a month, however many people look at it. Free has 100 image renders a month, with the chartjuice.com mark on the picture. Pro has 1,000, with no mark. Chart images explains the links and the counting.

The API

A program can now make, edit and draw charts. It signs its requests with an API key, which you create on your account page, under API keys. It can also draw a picture from data without saving a chart, and draw a saved chart with new data in the same design.

Every plan can send 60 requests a minute. Pictures of saved charts are limited to 100 a day on Free and 2,000 a day on Pro. The API reference has every endpoint with examples in curl, JavaScript and Python, Chart edits has every edit a program can make, and Limits and errors has the limits and the error codes.
